A Heroic German Shepherd Saves A Teen’s Life

The story

There was a robbery happening in a house. The teen, a 16-year-old, Javier Mercado, heard a banging on the front door; however, he ignored the two men

When Javier saw the robbers walking around the back of the house and felt the rear sliding glass door shattered. He felt he was in danger.

Also, Rex, the German Shepherd, felt that there was something wrong. So he ran downstairs to protect Javier.

Rex faced the intruders to protect his best friend. He faced the intruders all alone.

What happened to Rex?

However, as the robbers continued entering other rooms, Rex didn’t leave them.

Javier was hiding in the closet and Rex made sure that they wouldn’t find him.

He kept on protecting Javier by tossing himself in front of the robbers biting and barking at them.

Meanwhile, Javier quickly called 911 for the police to come.

Rex continued to chase down the robbers everywhere in the house.

Then, the robbers came to the room that Javier hid in. Rex was shot three times in an attempt to save Javier. With every shot, Rex was in pain.

However, he did hold them from a time so they wouldn’t harm Javier.

The robber’s managed to run away when they heard the police sirens.

Rex’s treatment

Luckily, Rex was alive even with these wounds.

He quickly went into BluePearl Veterinary Partner’s in Renton. Rex has surgery for repairing his broken tibia.

The surgery was a success and Rex was on the road to recovery.

He also needed to visit the vet for massage therapy and physical therapy.

Also, to help with his recovery, people donated money to help Rex with his medical bills.

Welcome to my bio everyone, my name is Nada. Ever since I was little, I have loved animals because they are so loving and kind. All they need is you attention, love, and care but I didn't understand them very well because I didn't get the chance to raise them. Well, That changed when my family and I got our first dog Rocky, a German Shepherd. Rocky was fun and loving with funny quirks. Being loyal and protective of us, he made me see the nature of a German Shepherd. Now, we have another German Shepherd named Mia. She is a wonderful dog and a rescue who just needed a second chance in life. Mia has long grown from being a terrified dog to the brave and caring German Shepherd that she is today. P.S: Here is a picture of our beautiful German Shepherd, Mia.
